Cagliari, Zortea presented: “Here the team is a reason for living, I will give my all”

Nadir Zortea, new purchase of the Cagliaripresents himself in the press room of the “Brunod” in Chatillon. The Trentino winger met the media after Saturday’s morning training session, recounting the journey that brought him to Sardinia and his feelings after the first few weeks of work. Here are his statements, to the club’s official channels.

Great stimulus
“I arrived at Atalanta at a very young age, I went through an important growth path there that led me to have several experiences on loan in recent seasons. My chapter in the Nerazzurri was over, so when I heard about Cagliari’s interest and the possibility of coming permanently, I was immediately impressed, I really wanted to embrace a new project like this. I’m really happy, I look forward basing everything on my attitude to work and trying to get the best from those around me. Role models? There are many, now we play a lot with a three-man defense and this way of playing really values the full-backs, if I have to name one I think of Theo Hernandez who plays the role with enormous completeness in both phases”.

Red and blue passion
“I didn’t expect the welcome I received along with the other guys at Elmas airport. I was very emotional, I quickly understood that Cagliari is something different, that you have to give your all to gratify a passionate public and a land that sees Cagliari as a reason for living”.

Ductility
“Running ability is my main characteristic, I am a player with an offensive attitude who can cover different positions on both sides of the pitch. Nandez’s legacy? I live it with a great sense of responsibility, it is a stimulus to do my best and leave a mark on Cagliari, this season and in the future”.

Daily work
“I had already worked with mister Nicola in Salerno, when we achieved a very difficult salvation in the second part of the season. The Mister wants players who know how to control their emotions, who are aware of what they are doing, there is intensity, they push hard, we work a lot on short distances, on pressure, on the reconquest and the rapid search for verticality and the goal. It is a very good group that welcomed me with enormous openness as happened to all the new arrivals. We are going in the right direction, we must continue like this with confidence. Surely already knowing the staff, in my case also the director Bonato, is an advantage in approaching the reality of Cagliari. Not all teams have our intensity and we will have to make sure that it is an advantage for us”.

The origins
“My name, Nadir, is of Arab origin: my mother chose it, my family is Italian but I have this unusual name that I like so much. Zortea is also the name of the town where I live, in Trentino, near where I was born. There are also many of my relatives there who have the same surname as me”.
