Among the topics touched upon by the rossoblù defender was also the difficult year of settling in with Italy for Swedish striker Jesper Karlssonalready his teammate during his time at AZ in Holland and now also in red and blue, a player that the Italian coach would have wanted even when he was coaching Fiorentina.
Beukema said: “Happy birthday Jesper (it’s his birthday, ed.)! He’s been a friend since his time at AZ Alkmaar, last year wasn’t easy for him. He was also unlucky with injuries, but now he’s hungry. Two days ago I asked him how he felt and he told me he’s ready and confident. More than last year, he wants to be important for the team.
