In Paulo Fonseca’s Milan’s first friendly of the season, played in Vienna against Rapid and ending 1-1, the quality of the game was clearly evident (in a negative way), in addition to the poor physical condition in this period of preparation, as well as the absence of many potential starters of the Rossoneri team, currently on holiday after commitments with their respective national teams.
Jovic is back
The first to return to the Rossoneri will be Luka Jovic, the first Milan player to be eliminated from the European Championships with his Serbia. The former Real Madrid player is expected in Milanello this morning to take part in the double training session scheduled by Fonseca. The official confirmation of his place in the squad has not yet arrived via press release, but there is no doubt: Jovic has deserved to be confirmed with the 9 goals he scored last season and has obtained another year of contract with the Rossoneri. The idea is not to leave him as the only deputy for Morata as happened last year with Giroud, but to pair him with another central striker.
The other returns
Musah and Pulisic, as good hosts, will join the Rossoneri group directly on tour in the United States from July 26. The other internationals will follow: Leao will return on July 28, Okafor on July 30. Then the last eliminated, in the semi-final: the Frenchmen Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez will resume training on August 2 at Milanello, in addition to Tijjani Reijnders who will be back on August 3. Alvaro Morata will make his first visit to Milanello on August 5. Therefore, the team will be complete only between August 8 and 9.
