U19 European Championship, Spain and France win: Denmark and Turkey beat 2-1

The first day of the group stage of the Under 19 European Championship, which is taking place in Northern Ireland, has concluded. Today the matches of Group B were played and saw Spain’s 2-1 victory over Denmark in the afternoon. The Red Furies were ahead in the first half with Chema Andres but at the end of the half Gogorza equalized the scores. In the second half, despite being numerically inferior due to Belaid’s red card, Iker Bravo scored the overtaking goal.

A comeback success for France, who suffered more than they should have against Turkey. In fact, they took the lead in the first half with Yigit Fidan, but in the second half, in the 21st minute, Michal equalised. Four minutes from the end, the final 2-1 came with a penalty kick by Jacquet. France and Spain therefore lead the group with three points each, while Denmark and Turkey are at zero points.

Thursday will be the turn of Group A again with the second day. Norway-Ukraine will open while at 20:00 it will be the turn of Bernardo Corradi’s Azzurrini to take to the field against the hosts Northern Ireland.
