Parma and Roma have two new goalkeepers: the first is already official, the second is awaiting the announcement. The week of the Gialloblu and Giallorossi began with two international newcomers between the posts: the Japanese Zion Suzuki for the first and the Australian Matthew Ryan for the latter. The former Sint-Truiden player will most likely start, while the goalkeeper who has so far been a free agent will be Svilar’s deputy.

“Zion Suzuki is yellow and blue! Parma Calcio announces that the goalkeeper has been purchased outright from Sint-Truidense Voetbalvereniging and has signed a contract until 06.30.2029. Japanese nationality, but of American (born in Newark, New Jersey) and Ghanaian origin, Zion is an international profile who has played in two clubs in his career, Urawa Red Diamonds and Sint-Truidense Voetbalvereniging. He grew up in the Youth Sector of the Japanese club, where in 2020 he became a professional, and at the same time, he played in all the national youth selections of Japan, where since 2022, at just 19 years old, he has become a regular in the National A team. An international profile who in the last season in the Jupiler Pro League, made 32 appearances, highlighting his athletic, human and technical qualities, which have affirmed him throughout the world. Roma is also ready to announce its new goalkeeper. He landed in the capital this evening, at Fiumicino airport, Matthew Ryan and will soon be a new player available to mister De Rossi. The Australian goalkeeper will be Svilar’s assistant, who will start next season, and arrived in Giallorossi on a free transfer after being released from AZ Alkmaar on June 30th. Born in 1992, Ryan arrived in Europe after experiences in Australia with Blacktown City and Central Coast Mariners wearing the Bruges jersey. After the Belgian Nerazzurri, he defended the goalposts of Valencia, Genk, Brighton, Arsenal, Real Sociedad and Copenhagen before the Dutch Biancorossi. Ryan will take the place of Rui Patricio who left the Giallorossi colors after three years.
