Man’ United, Ten Hag: “Our squad is already competitive. Zirkzee will give us a hand”

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag commented on the arrival of the former Bologna striker at the Red Devils Joshua Zirkzee: “He is a player who can tie the game together,” the coach began from the training camp. “He keeps the ball, has good ideas, is creative, knows how to dribble and create combinations. He has different characteristics and that is always what we are looking for, so he gives us more options tactically. Which is positive because, especially in attack, we have many players who can play very directly and can take great advantage of his skills.”

The Dutch coach then underlined the strength of the squad at his disposal: “I think – he continued – we have shown that we can beat the best team in the world on the last occasion of the season. So, when everyone is fit, we already have a good team and we reach a high level.

But we also know, deep down, that we need more players,” Ten Hag concluded. “Especially in this season, where there are even more games, the new model and the new format of Europe: there will be more games in a season, more intense games, no winter break, a very intense January. We need depth in the squad. It is increasingly a question of survival of the fittest.”
