Barcelona, Fort’s announcement: “Camp Nou will be ready by November 29th”

Work on the renovation of Camp Nou continues at a rapid pace. Barcelona’s home should be ready by the end of November, at least at 60% of its capacity. The announcement was made by Elena FortBlaugrana vice-president and number one of “Espai Barça”, the project that includes a restyling of all the facilities of the sports center. Interviewed by the agency EFEthe Catalan club’s director commented:

“The work is following the planned schedule and we are on schedule. Our first idea was to try to reach the iconic date of November 29, when we will celebrate our 125th anniversary. It will take a few more days, but today we can say that we will have the stadium ready to play at the end of the year.

During the negotiations, we guarantee the commitment of the construction company to meet the deadlines. And yes, there is a penalty if we do not deliver 60% of the finished stadium by the end of the year. It is one of the many clauses that are there and, if the time comes, we will have to apply it, but I think that time will not happen. When someone leaves you 1.5 billion euros (specifically, it is 1.45 billion from a fund with 20 investors, led by the American banks Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan), the meetings are constant and there is external control by the financiers to ensure that nothing deviates. In this sense, the line we are following is fantastic. They are very happy and so are we”.
