Euro ’25, Italy qualifies if…it beats Finland. But a draw could also be enough

The first two places in Group 1 of the Euro 2025 qualifiers in League A will be decided in the final 90 minutes on Tuesday 16th: on one side there will be the challenge between Italy and Finland and on the other between Norway and the Netherlands with all four teams still able to get their pass for direct qualification to the continental tournament that will be played in Switzerland as they are all within three points (Netherlands 8, Norway 6, Italy 6, Finland 5).

Mister Soncin’s Azzurre know that in case of victory over Finland in Bolzano, qualification will be certain regardless of what happens in the other matchotherwise we will have to wait for the result of Norway-Netherlands, hoping that it is favorable.

In the event of a defeat for the Scandinavians, a draw would be enough for the Italians to secure second place. which gives direct access to the European Championship. In the event of a draw in both matches, the Norwegians would advance due to their better goal difference (+3 against +1) with Italy forced into the play-offs as the third-placed team. In the event of a defeat for both the Azzurri and the Rossoblu, Finland would advance (which would also advance in the event of a victory and a draw in the other match) and would overcome both with Italy who at that point, always due to goal difference, would risk last place and relegation to League B in the next Women’s Nations League.
