The Milan has – in fact already for a couple of weeks – chosen the ideal man to give Fonseca a midfielder with defensive characteristics. It is about Youssouf Fofanamidfielder born in 1999 who, yesterday evening, concluded the European Championship with France due to the elimination against Alvaro Morata’s Spain. In these days, the Franco-Ivorian will observe a few deserved hours of rest, during which, however, he will decide his immediate future.
The numbers
First of all, there is an important detail to provide: Fofana’s contract with Monaco expires in June 2025. He therefore has only one season left in the Principality and it is obvious that the current session is the right one for the transfer. Precisely because of this single year of contract, Monaco cannot afford to ask for 25 million euros, less than the 30 million proposed by Nottingham Forest a year ago. Milan, consequently, aims to close under 20 million euros.
What is missing
According to the latest rumors, Milan have reached an agreement with Fofana: they would entrust him with the keys to the Rossoneri midfield, being able to position him both as a midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 and as a low vertex in front of the defense in a three-man midfield. Now they will have to go and negotiate with Monaco, focusing, as has already been anticipated, both on the only year of the contract left and on Fofana’s desire to move to the Rossoneri. These are the days of the final push.
