English Openings – England beat Holland with Watkins: now the final act with Spain

A night to remember in England for the unexpected victory in the final minutes of the Three Lions. A goal by Xavi Simons opens the scoring, then a blunder by Dumfries awards a penalty, later converted, to Harry Kane. Between saves and posts in the first half, the second half reopens on the thin edge of a palpable tension. Until the extraordinary last-gasp of the super substitution Watkins sends Gareth Southgate’s national team 2-1 against Holland, who instead ended up with their morale down and their legs cut off.

Paradise guaranteed and second consecutive final at the European Championships after the one in 2021. The appointment is set for July 14, face to face against Luis de la Fuente’s Spain. Below are the Today’s openings in England to celebrate the England team reaching the final.

The Guardian – Olé, Olé, Ollie!

The Daily Telegraph – Oh, what a night!

Star Sports – What a finish!
