Discovering Valentini, the (almost) new Fiorentina defender who hasn’t played since April

There Florentine he has in his hand Nicholas Valentini. The defender born in 2001 of the Boca Juniors he has a contract with the Xeneizes valid until December 31, but has been out of the squad since April 15. The Argentine management offered him a renewal at the terms he wanted, but the 23-year-old wanted to be paid retroactively from January 2023 and not from 2024. Furthermore, the player wanted to keep the clause at 9.3 million euros, while the club wanted to increase it.

There are many reasons why an agreement has not been reached, one of which is undoubtedly Valentini’s ambition to compete in a European championship, something that Fiorentina can offer him. The timing of his arrival is still unclear: the lily club has practically secured him on a free transfer starting in 2025, but could also decide to bring forward his arrival to the summer by paying compensation to Boca Juniors.

Standing 187 centimeters tall, Valentini has 47 appearances with the Bombonera team, with whom he also scored 2 goals, and 39 with Aldosivi, where he played in 2022, scoring his first professional goal, ironically, against Boca. Argentine, but with Italian origins and passport, in 2024 he took part in 9 matches, 7 in the Copa de la Liga and 2 in the Copa Sudamericana. There was also interest in him from some Spanish teams, Como and especially Roma, who had immediately made an attempt with Burdisso and Samuel.
