Interviewed by The Sports Gazettethe technician and commentator Andrea Stramaccioni he talked about the new Inter striker Mehdi Taremi: “Iranian players are generally very strong-willed, and so far he has shown great ability to adapt. I have never coached him but I know him well: he is a hard worker and has always had a positive attitude in the locker rooms he has frequented. I remember that at Porto, when he first arrived, he was benched behind Marega for the first few games. But thanks to his performances and goals, he even convinced Conceicao to change the formation: from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 just for him”.
Could it be integrated as early as August?
“Yes. With Lautaro and Thuram having arrived ahead of the national team, Inzaghi will be able to run Taremi in the pre-season with minutes and total attention.”
Can he raise the bar in the Champions League?
“He is experienced and scores a lot. He fills the area and is complete, he knows how to combine with his teammate, he is skilled in the air and has physical strength. He will be a solid alternative to the attacking duo of Lautaro and Thuram. Marotta and Ausilio have completed a very important operation, even more so because it was free”.
