Juventus had Toni Fernandez in their grasp. But he will renew with Barcelona

Juventus had the next Lamine Yamal in their pocket. Or at least that’s what they say about Toni Fernandez, star of the Barcelona youth team and called up to the Blaugrana retreat by Hansi Flick. Attacking midfielder, second striker, a possible investment like Yildiz. Also because he is considered one of the most promising players ever, for technique and speed of execution. In short, the happy ending for Juve seemed written. Instead, in five days Fernandez will turn 16 and will sign his first professional contract with Barça, thus remaining in the youth system that raised him, net of all the offers that have arrived, including that of Bayer Leverkusen.

Contacts between the parties continued for some time and Juventus’ offer was the highest. It even doubled the amount that Fernandez will receive, just as all the other issues had been resolved. It was therefore neither a contractual nor economic issue that led to the decision to stay. The parents went to Turin to see the infrastructure and understand what the margins were for their son, also because taking the wrong direction at this stage could be criminal.

The economic offer was satisfying, therefore, if not even rich. Fernandez’s parents were involved in his choice, not entirely convinced by Juventus as the right step in his career, despite the Under23 and the many talents about to explode, from Huijsen to Yildiz, passing through Soule. Things happen, but Toni Fernandez risks being a regret for a long time.
