Diego Loreto introduces itself. After the official announcement that bounced around yesterday evening between press releases and announcements on social media, the Betis Seville showed off his new signing: the Spanish central defender returning from his loan at Romereturned to Leeds before flying back to his homeland.
The 30-year-old originally from Madrid was presented to Ciudad Deportiva by the club green white and expressed all his emotions for the arrival in Seville: “You are not made of stone and for me it was clear that a destination like Betis was the best step. I hope we can help each other to achieve great things. I am in the best possible place, I hope I can do my part to help Betis achieve its goals” – the first statements collected by the newspaper AS.
The former Giallorossi player told all the feelings that arose from his first days as a newcomer: “I spoke with Marc, with Fornals, with Juanmi… All the words were good. I think it’s an unbeatable place for me and my family. When the season ended, there was a period of reflection and on my return I was informed of Betis’ interest. There were others, including Roma, but the sum of all the factors and the enthusiasm they transmitted to me? That was the key to my decision.”
On the objectives in Europe: “Obviously playing in Europe is another reason to come here. It’s a very nice competition and we have the team to face whatever comes our way. In my case, a European competition is very special, we hope to take Betis to the final and do great things.”
