Vecchi: “Di Gregorio won’t feel like he’s arrived at Juve. In Primavera he had Radu ahead of him”

Stephen Oldcoach of Vicenza, shared his experience in Inter Primavera with Michael DiGregoriogoalkeeper who joined this summer at Juventus. In an interview with The Sports Gazettethe coach spoke about him like this: “I coached him for 3 years. In the first season, 2014-15, he was underage and made the third. His misfortune was having Ionut Radu in front of him, a very talented boy and much more ready at that time. However, we noticed his qualities and then decided to keep him with us for an extra year as an overage player and as captain. The best part was that we won the championship and he lifted the cup. I felt the need to justify myself to him for the many benches. When you see that a boy gives his all every day, without playing, you owe it to him. Those who work must reap, so it was right to give him the chance to have a season as number one. Orlandoni and Brivio, our goalkeeping coaches, were masters”.

Is he ready for Juventus?
“I met Cristiano Giuntoli in Carpi, I think he chose him because he looks for players like that, hungry, and Michele won’t feel like he’s arrived at Juve. I bet on it, because nobody has ever given him anything. If some guys happen to skip the stages, others build them. Di Gre made good choices, always putting growth first”.
