Mario Hermoso seems increasingly distant from Italy after the last few weeks. The Spanish defender rejected Napoli’s offer – which had been following him since April – for reasons of opportunity and economics: there was a gap between the offer of almost 4 million and Hermoso’s request of 5, but that wasn’t the only reason. He wasn’t convinced of the destination, despite Antonio Conte’s presence, because he wasn’t playing in the cups. It was a different story for Bologna, which had made an offer to the Spaniard but was refused by the defender, perhaps because he was convinced he could attract other offers, even outside the Serie A championship.
Also because the others are not interested. Inter, Milan and Juventus have already made it known for some time, while Atalanta – should someone like Djimsiti leave – is looking for a more physical defender, like Balerdi or Danso, names that have already emerged in the Nerazzurri’s range of hypotheses. Then there would be Roma, among the candidates to be able to take him, but the club has already made it known that he is not one of their objectives and that, in the department, he is already settled.
So for Hermoso there will probably be a foreign track, with various interests from English clubs.
