The first day of Paulo Fonseca as Milan’s coach is finally about to arrive. After the official announcement of his arrival to replace Stefano Pioli in recent weeks, the Portuguese coach will arrive in Italy this morning and will begin to draw the conclusions in what will be his second Italian experience after the one on the Roma bench from 2019 to 2021, for two seasons, with a fifth and a seventh place achieved in Giallorossi. After the positive adventure at Lille, Fonseca is ready to lead the Rossoneri, waiting for moves on the market, starting from Monday 8 July, the day of the gathering and also of his official presentation press conference.
The early days of Paulo Fonseca.
The Portuguese coach – as mentioned – will land in Milan this morning (around 10:30) and will have a couple of days to acclimatise before his first day at the Rossoneri school. On Monday, Paulo Fonseca will speak at a press conference from Casa Milan at 11:00, an official presentation that will also be attended by Ibrahimovic and the entire management. Also on Monday 8th, at 5:00 pm at Milanello, the first training session of the season preceded by the classic Curva Sud procession. On TMW you can follow the entire day with images and statements from the protagonists.
Hunt for the attacker.
In all this, the Rossoneri management is grappling with the objective of the new striker to be entrusted to Fonseca himself, that centre-forward who will have the task of replacing Olivier Giroud. Joshua Zirkzee continues to be the first choice for Milan but there remains a stalemate on the high commissions, 15 million euros, requested by the Dutchman’s agent and for this reason in the last few hours the name of Alvaro Morata has emerged, who has a clause of 13 million. In the event that it is not actually possible to bring the Bologna striker to Milanello, there are also other alternatives on the list: Gimenez of Feyenoord and Dovbyk of Girona are also in the running.
