Sampdoria, Depaoli undergoes hernia surgery: he will miss the Jena retreat. Return expected in September

Sampdoria’s new season, which has yet to officially start, begins with a surgical operation on one of the protagonists of last season, the winger Fabio Depaoli. The class of ’97 in fact, as reported The 19th Centuryhe was in fact operated on for a very annoying “sports hernia” problem that had severely penalized him, especially in the second part of the season, from the end of February to the play off in Palermo: “Of the last 12 games (excluding Lecco where he was suspended) he had played only six as a starter and only two remaining on the field from start to finish, in the away match in Bari and at home against Reggiana”.

An intervention completely similar to that of Manolo Gabbiadini in December 2020 when the recovery time was around three months with the striker then returning to the field as a starter after a couple of weeks of group training.

“Depaoli’s surgery was in the air, the footballer tried to grit his teeth, to fight the problem with targeted physical work, but without obtaining results. – we read further in the newspaper – In the last few days he still had further visits and consultations, to understand what could be the best solution to definitively resolve the problem. In the end, the surgical option prevailed. Depaoli obviously won’t be able to work on the pitch with his teammates in the Jena retreat, he should be available again by mid/late September”.
