Robin Gosens, top at Atalanta and flop at Inter. Good at Union, he will have a new challenge

Robin Gosens moved from Atalanta to Inter for twenty-five million. A significant sum that certified the German’s skill, who went from being a reserve on the left to a starter in the Euro2021 national team. Many goals, many bursts, applause-worthy performances that really earned him a media overexposure that was deserved. Then, however, thanks to Dimarco’s explosion, he soon ended up on the bench. Perhaps some physical problems also limited him a lot in his experience at Inter, but in fact he was never a starter.

For this reason, after a year and a half without being able to make the impact he would have liked, he returned to the Bundesliga, signing with Union Berlin. There was the Champions League, it was a showcase for the European Championship in Germany. Instead, net of the seven goals scored – a lot, considering that his club risked relegation – other profiles were preferred to him.

Now he will have a new challenge. Benfica has him in their sights at the express request of Roger Schmidt, Atalanta remains a possibility in case Bakker leaves, Bologna has seduced him a little and abandoned him a little, Lazio would like him but times are slow. One thing is certain: he will say goodbye to Berlin after just one season. Today Robin Gosens turns 30.
