Italy, Soncin confirms 33 players for the matches against Netherlands and Finland

Today the coach Andrea Soncin should have cut some of the 33 players called up for the preparation for the challenges against the Netherlands and Finland that will close the qualifying round for the Women’s European Championship. Instead, the coach has decided to confirm the entire group he has trained in recent days. Below is the note from the FIGC:

A month after the double draw with Norway, the Women’s National Team is getting ready to return to the field for the last two matches of the qualifying round for the European Championship, which will be played in a year’s time in Switzerland. The Azzurre’s journey will end with the matches against the Netherlands and Finland, scheduled respectively for Friday 12 July in Sittard (8:45 p.m., Rai Sport) and Tuesday 16 July in Bolzano (7 p.m., Rai Sport).

At stake, in the last 180 minutes of Group 1 of League A, will be direct qualification for the continental tournament: to obtain the pass for EURO 2025 without having to play the play-off scheduled for the end of the year, Italy – currently third – will have to get more points than Norway, which precedes Andrea Soncin’s team by virtue of a better goal difference. For this fundamental double commitment, the coach has decided to confirm the group that took part in the gathering in Galzignano Terme and Brunico. There will therefore be 33 players who on Wednesday 10 July will board the flight to Holland, where the national team will try to repeat the feat achieved in the first leg, won 2-0 with goals from Giacinti and Bonfantini.
