Cagliari, 4 home games in the top 5. Bonato: “We’ll see the effects of this calendar”

The Sporting Director of Cagliari, Nereo Bonatocommented on the calendar of the new season, made official today by Lega Serie A: “There is a very evident peculiarity in the beginning of our journey, it is unusual to start – in the first 7 days – with two pairs of home games, interspersed with the first away game and followed by two away games in a row. We will see the effects of this calendar on the pitch, as always it is difficult to judge it at the beginning of July, without knowing the real values of the teams”.

“We will have to be ready right away and arrive brilliantly at the final rush: our path, in fact, will have an initial phase of the first half of the season with many challenges to our direct competitors, at least on paper; teams that we will meet again at the end of the second half of the season, at the decisive moment of the championship. In the central part of the season, however, we will meet many big teams, in the presence of which we will have to be good at playing our chances with great spirit and compactness. Second half of the season with more away games? We must face each game as a story in itself, at home and away. In the last two seasons we have always been good at changing pace in the second half, adapting ourselves more and more to the season and finding the energy and points necessary to reach the objective”.
