Live TMW

At 12:00, Lega Serie A will announce the calendar of the Italian football championship for the 2024/2025 sports season.

11:55 – Before we dive into compiling the calendars, here are the criteria.

ABSOLUTE ALTERNATION: absolute alternation of home and away matches is foreseen for the following pairs of Clubs:
INTER MILAN
LAZIO-ROME
JUVENTUS-TORINO
EMPOLI-FIORENTINA

ASYMMETRY: also in the 2024/2025 sports season the sequence of matches in the first half of the season is different from that of the matches in the second half of the season, with a minimum of 8 days between the first and second half matches against the same opponent; the main objective achieved through the asymmetric calendar is to respect an ever-increasing number of coincidences linked to reasons of public order, the growing number of matches in European competitions, local events and the needs of the Clubs, trying to maximize the television audience and attendance in the stadiums.

DERBY: scheduled on different days and not on days 1 and 38 and in the midweek round (day 10).

COMPETITIONS BETWEEN TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN EUROPEAN COMPETITIONS: Clubs participating in the UEFA Champions League do not meet Clubs participating in the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League on matchdays 5, 6, 22, 25, 28, 32 and 35 between two rounds of back-to-back UEFA Competitions.

MIDWEEK SHIFTS: Matchday 10 will be the only midweek match of the 24/25 Championship.

NO WINTER STOP: the 24/25 Championship from 17 August 2024 to 25 May 2025 will be interrupted only for the 4 FIFA windows (8 September, 13 October, 17 November, 23 March) and during the Christmas period it will be played on the weekends of 22 December, 29 December and 5 January.

12:00 pm – Right on time, the event begins. A video recalls the new sponsorship of Enilive, which replaces Tim as the main sponsor of the tournament. Following is a video montage with the protagonists and moments of the last championship, guests in the studio are former footballers Christian Vieri and Ciro Ferrara.

We begin with a comment from Lorenzo Casini, president of Lega Serie A: “The values that have characterized Eni’s history, international cosmopolitan cooperation but also that in modernized provincial contexts, are aspects that Serie A focuses a lot on, together with environmental sustainability. We are happy to be here, it is a growth prospect for the world of Serie A. Borrowing from the Premier League, thanks to the windows, we have changed the programming a lot, a topic of debate especially for those who are away”.

Andrea Butti, Head of Competition of Lega Serie A, then explains the criteria for compiling the calendar: “First of all, we would like to thank Optimal Solution, the software house with which we collaborated for the compilation algorithms. The criteria first of all include the absolute alternation of home and away matches for Inter-Milan, Torino-Juve, Lazio-Roma and Empoli-Fiorentina. Also in 24/25 the first and second leg sequence will be asymmetrical. The championship will be the only one in Europe to have only one midweek round, Wednesday 30 October 2024. The derbies will all be scheduled on different days, excluding the 1st, 10th and 38th. Those participating in Europe cannot be drawn against each other on the following days: 5th, 6th, 18th, 22nd, 25th, 38th. Finally, there will be no winter break: from Saturday 17 August the championship continues for 37 weekends, interrupted only for the four national team breaks”.

He then added: “Atalanta is completing the renovation work at Gewiss, while Como and Venezia had to adapt their facilities to Serie A. Atalanta and Como will play the first three games away, Venezia only the first two“.

We start with the draws.
