Modena, Sassi on loan from Atalanta. The DS: “Perfect balance for the goalkeepers”

The official documentation had already been filed in the League in recent days, now the press release has also arrived, which we report below in full: “The third novelty of the summer of 2024 is Jacopo Sassi. Modena FC announces that it has temporarily acquired the services of the young Atalanta goalkeeperborn in 2003 and also a member of the Italian youth national teams.

The path. Originally from Treviglio, Sassi took his first steps among the local football schools. At 16, he made the leap into a professional youth sector, when Atalanta noticed his qualities and included him first in the Under 17 and then in the Under 18. In 2021-22, he established himself as a starter in the black and blue Primavera, playing an excellent season with 21 appearances and 7 clean sheets, as well as two call-ups to Serie A with the first team. The following year at 19, he left Atalanta on loan for his first experience among the big boys: he immediately showed off, obtaining 27 appearances and Carmine Nunziata called him up several times with the blue Under 20, also for the World Cup in the category, which he closed as vice-world champion. Last summer, he went on loan to Pro Vercelli to find continuity in Lega Pro and obtained 31 appearances seasoned with 12 clean sheets. After various call-ups, in June he made his debut with the Under 21 team, in the Revello tournament, where he was deployed in the match against Panama, being the protagonist of the Azzurri victory thanks to two penalty kicks saved”.

The club’s official channels then followed up with the words of Sports Director of the Canaries Andrea Catellani: “Jacopo’s arrival represents the perfect balance for our goalkeeping team. Despite being born in 2003, he already has two championships as a starter in Lega Pro behind him and recently even made his debut for the Under 21 national team. He is a great professional and a hard worker, ideal characteristics for the team we are building”.
