Olympique Marseille has announced the purchase of Ismael Koné from Watford. The 22-year-old midfielder has passed his medical and has just signed a contract that will tie him to the French club for the next few years.

Raised in Canada, in the Academy of Saint-Laurent, Koné took his first steps as a professional with Montréal, making his debut in February 2022 in a CONCACAF Champions League match. With the Quebec club, the Canadian midfielder played 32 games (4 goals) and was noted above all for his athletic ability. Gifted with a sharp intelligence, he was immediately noticed by European teams.

In December 2022, the midfielder signed with Watford, which he now leaves for 12 million. He was elected best young Canadian player by the Football Association for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023) and participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He is currently in the United States to play the Copa America: Canada is in the quarterfinals, so Koné will join Marseille only at the end of the tournament.
