Holland dominates Romania: 3-0 with a stellar Gakpo. Koeman: “He has more quality”

No surprises at the Allianz Arena in Munich, theHolland beats 3-0 Romania and flies to the quarter-finals of theEuropeanwhere they will challenge Turkey, who on Tuesday evening defeated Austria 2-1 in the last eight of the tournament. The Oranje led the game without practically ever taking risks, except for the start of the match, but they closed the deal only in the final minutes. The absolute star of the match was Cody Gakpo, who scored the temporary 1-0 in the 20th minute, came close to scoring a brace several times, and finally provided Donyell Malen with the assist for the 2-0 after an extraordinary individual move. The Borussia Dortmund winger then scored his second goal on the counterattack in the 93rd minute. No insufficient scores among Koeman’s men, apart from Depay; good, in addition to the scorers, were Dumfries, Reijnders and above all Xavi Simons. On the other hand, all the players available to Iordanescu were disappointing: Dragusin and Razvan Marin did badly, Man and Mihaila tried, but the former dropped off over the distance, the latter was unable to provide the desired turning point coming off the bench.

Ronald Koemanct of theHollandanalyzed the match on the microphones of the channels UEFAadmitting that it is difficult for him to explain how his national team can play so well, despite the second goal coming too late, and, at times, just as badly: “We have great talent in the team. Obviously you have to win something, then people will compare it to 1988. Football has changed since then. You saw in the last games that everyone had problems continuing in the tournament. The final result is always the most important thing. We are Dutch, though, and we have to play well”. Finally, he cuddles Gakpo: “He was incredibly important again. He is physically strong, fast and has some extra qualities”.

Eduard Iordanescuct of the Romaniainstead he spoke little about the badly lost match on the channels UEFA and preferred to focus on the good things done at this European Championship: “We concluded a great story, which began two years ago. We continued that story here in Germany together with the fans of the national team. The team made a great effort, but there is a bit of sadness. We wanted more, but we gave everything. Thanks to my boys, the supporters and the Romanians all over the world who supported us”. The coach explained that the Romanians must believe in themselves: “They can produce fantastic things”.
