Copa America, Group D: Brazil fails to overtake and finishes 2nd, Costa Rica eliminated

The final matches of the 2024 Copa America group stage were played during the night in Italy. Group D has issued its final verdict: Colombia finished top of the table ahead of Brazil thanks to a 1-1 draw in the head-to-head match played at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara: Raphinha had put the Brazilian national team ahead in the 12th minute, with Daniel Munoz scoring in first-half injury time.

Colombia will face Panama in the next round, while Brazil will face Bielsa’s Uruguay, who won Group C by a landslide. Costa Rica and Paraguay did not advance from the preliminary round: Alfaro’s boys’ 2-1 win over Albirroja was not enough, and third place meant elimination.
