Clear U-turn on Dumfries’ future: farewell now the furthest option

Inter accelerates the renewal of Denzel Dumpries and the management is confident of finding an agreement with the Dutch winger soon. A clear U-turn on the percentages and on the signature on the future together with the former PSV Eindhoven winger that until a few weeks ago seemed like a certain farewell for the club on Viale della Liberazione. Then the arrival of the Oaktree fund led to a change of direction also in the needs of the budget: no more capital gains at all costs but the possibility of also obtaining a capital increase. For this reason the management decided that technically and tactically Dumfries could become a necessary asset also in the future and hence the acceleration on the renewal.

Negotiation
Discussions with the entourage have clearly been going on for some time, the idea of Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio is to have him sign an agreement similar to the one Federico Dimarco had on the other flank… For an agreement currently expiring in twelve months, Inter would like to extend until the summer of 2027 with a contract worth 4 million euros per season plus bonuses. A proposal that, combined with the tactical prospects, the desire to stay in Milan and continue to dream with his teammates in black and blue, is about to convince the Orange winger too.

Ausilio’s words
In this regard, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio also confirms. “There is some truth in what he said at the Dutch training camp, that is, that both we and he want to find an agreement for a new contract. For now, he has it until 2025 and the idea is to extend it and improve it so that it is good for both parties. He is a player who is often underestimated, but he has always given a huge contribution to Inter in terms of goals, assists and also with his availability. He has always accepted all the choices, I don’t say with a smile, but with the professionalism that has always distinguished him in these years, giving an important contribution to winning the Scudetto”.
