Salernitana, another upset: Fontana’s lead fades. Fabio Caserta’s idea

Andrea Sottil’s farewell made official Salerno as of July 2nd he is still struggling with the coaching problem. Last night it seemed all done for Gaetano Fontanaa real gamble by sporting director Gianluca Petrachi who, on Sunday morning, having sensed Sottil’s intentions, had protected himself by contacting the former trainer of Turris and Juve Stabia. There was talk of a two-year agreement, even with a bonus in the event of safety being achieved. This morning, after a positive meeting between the parties, some bureaucratic obstacles arose. Fontana had just renewed his contract with Latina and the Nerazzurri club was asking for a sort of financial compensation for terminating the working relationship early. An expense that Salernitana apparently is not willing to make, also because the Lazio management has not accepted technical counterparts (it seems the youngsters Sfait and Motoc).

At the moment there is very little chance that negotiations can be reopened, even if these chaotic days teach us that nothing can ever be taken for granted. And now what is the solution? There have been no contacts with Castori, ditto for Aquilani. Vivarini has settled down, some profiles in Lega Pro are still being explored. Who knows, maybe the wave of controversy raging on the web has pushed the club to make more in-depth evaluations regardless of the Latina case. Among the names being explored is Fabio Caserta, as well as Cristiano Lucarelli. It seems that the role has also been proposed to Stephen Colantuono who, however, would prefer to cover the role of technical director.
