Never-ending chaos in Salerno: Sottil already saying goodbye, Petrachi has chosen Fontana in his place

As reported by the Sports Courier, Gaetano Fontana will most likely be the new coach of Salernitana, barring any last-minute twists. The Calabrian coach, who recently led Latina to the Serie C play-offs (obtaining a points average of 1.41 in 17 games of the regular season, before being eliminated in the first round by Capuano’s Taranto), had renewed his contract with the Pontine club. However, last Sunday, Petrachi had already contacted him in anticipation of the new assignment.

The official announcement should arrive today, with Salernitana simultaneously declaring that they have not filed the two-year contract with Sottil. This sudden change of scenery seems to derive from two main factors: the interruption of negotiations with the American fund Brera Holdings, which had initially proposed a strengthening of the project but subsequently failed to raise the necessary funds, and the economic request for Sottil’s staff, considered excessive for Serie B by president Iervolino.

Although Salernitana’s owner remains intent on selling the club, there are currently no interested buyers. In the meantime, fans are anxiously awaiting the official announcement of the new coach and the first moves on the market to strengthen the team for next season.
