Lucchesi: “Fiorentina, Kean is a good investment but he is not enough on his own”

Fabrizio Lucchesian experienced sports manager of many Italian professional teams, spoke to the microphones of TMW Radio to talk about Fiorentina’s moment.

Your first impressions of the start of Fiorentina’s new era?
“There will be a reprogramming. Certain changes are physiological and normal. Now we will have to save the best in order to build next year’s squad on the foundations that are already there.”

The midfield has emptied. How should we intervene for the midfield?
“In this type of operation, the best is the one who makes the fewest mistakes. At this moment it is premature to make judgments, there is an air of an open construction site. It is the first of July, formally it is the first day of the market even though negotiations have been going on for over a month. However, I think that another week will be needed to be able to guess what will really happen. Now the problem in the search for players is more qualitative than numerical. If you are in a hurry to buy you risk finding yourself with an unhappy player at home who would then act as a blocker for the future market. Better to wait one more day than to be hasty”.

How much can foreign owners invest in Italy?
“Having a very strong ownership does not mean having a rich club. Today the club itself is seen as a company by entrepreneurs. The model has changed compared to the times of presidents as patrons. Now football is a little less romantic, but healthier, because once when a president got into financial difficulty then the team suffered, while now it doesn’t. Foreign investors in any case come to buy in Italy because the purchase price is much lower than in other countries”.

What a coup is Kean’s for Fiorentina?
“There were huge expectations on him, some met, others not. He alone does not solve the problem of the offensive department, which needs to find more effectiveness. However, Fiorentina did well to invest in him because he has interesting qualities, but it must be reiterated that he alone is not enough”.
