France beats Belgium and goes to the Quarterfinals. L’Equipe headlines: “It was a joy”

Two own goals. A penalty. Quarter-finals. One could say that never as in the case of France can we speak of “maximum results, with minimum effort”. For the French national team, after three games in the group that had not convinced (almost) anyone, it went a little better – from a game point of view – against Belgium. The Galletti were masters of the game for large stretches of the game and only their imprecision in front of goal prevented them from running riot. In the end, however, it was Vertonghen’s own goal on a strangled shot by Kolo Muani that took Mbappe and his team to the quarter-finals, where they will find CR7 and his Portugal, who yesterday eliminated Slovenia on penalties.
