Crespo recommends Milan: “Between Zirkzee and Lukaku, I would take the Belgian’s experience”

Interviewed by The Sports Gazette, Hernan Crespo has had his say on who should be Milan’s next striker: “Between Zirkzee and Lukaku? The discussion is not simple because from what I understand the economic question is not secondary. I can speak for what concerns the technical aspect and for their possible insertion into the mechanisms of the team. Always remembering that Zirkzee is 23 years old while Lukaku is 31, and that is not a small difference. Zirkzee guarantees a future, Lukaku is more immediate. It is easy to say “I need a centre forward”, but they are not all the same”

On who he would see better in red and black: “Milan needs to score right away, to put it in. The San Siro crowd doesn’t have time to wait. Zirkzee is coming off an excellent season with Bologna, while Lukaku hasn’t been brilliant. However, if the Belgian is well-prepared from a physical point of view and has the right motivations, he can be a guarantee. Zirkzee is young, how could he handle the impact with San Siro? Believe me, someone who has experienced that emotion first-hand tells you. Zirkzee has been very good so far, but in Bologna. Lukaku is more accustomed to big stages, to a consolidated international experience. In conclusion, for today’s Milan, perhaps Lukaku is more suited”.
