Italy in crisis? Sommer: “It remains a great team. It just found a great Switzerland”

During the interview given to today’s edition of the Gazzetta dello Sportthe Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer, protagonist with Switzerland at the European Championship, commented on the moment his national team is experiencing, fresh from victory against Italy in the round of 16 of the competition. Now in the quarter-finals it will be England who barely beat Slovakia last night:

“The important thing is to think that we haven’t reached our maximum – commented the Nerazzurri goalkeeper -. What is certain is that if we play like this in the next matches too, with this intensity, we have a great chance of winning again and reaching the end. Italy in crisis? I don’t think so. They are and remain a great team, it’s not a single match that can define an entire movement in crisis. They just faced a great Switzerland.

What is different about this group from the others? There is a great atmosphere, there is a beautiful atmosphere within the working group. We are fine, we feel good. It depends on us and on how much we can maintain this level. We are in shape – concluded Sommer – also from a physical point of view. And there is a great connection with the staff and the people who follow us: we want to go forward as much as we can, we don’t set limits for ourselves”.
