Among the many guests present today in Rimini for the official opening of the 2024/2025 transfer market, there is also the Director of the Technical Area of Lecce Pantaleo Corvino. Here are the words collected by TMW: “What kind of market will it be? Like all the others, we start on tiptoe as usual and then everyone will try to fill their gaps according to their own possibilities”.

Have the Europeans slowed down the market a bit? “I don’t think they have an impact, sometimes they can compress the times a bit, maybe someone waits for some element to emerge, it’s part of the dynamics of the big clubs. But the medium and small clubs don’t wait for the European Championship to move. If they can, they do it before. We did it with 4 acquisitions, two of which had already been looked at during the season (Morente and Pierret), the others go to improve sectors (Gaspar and Fruchtl) where we needed it”.

In particular, the goalkeeper Fruchtl is very strong: if offers for Falcone arrived, could you take them into consideration? “We have more than one owner who is wanted elsewhere, but if the interested parties don’t come to tell us that they want to leave, we resist to keep them because we have the means. If then for someone there is the will or the pleasure to go and improve, at that point we can sit down to negotiate”.

Pongracic has requests. “I confirm that he is highly sought after and is being watched by Italian and foreign clubs, he is a truly important player. We would struggle to keep him if he came to ask us to leave. I hope that doesn’t happen”.

From the outside, how do you see Fiorentina’s choice with Palladino? “Everyone follows their own logic and the models they want to adopt. They follow a choice that is the result of certain philosophies.”

Luca Gotti stays at Lecce. “He had faith in us at a time when the team was having a difficult time, and we had faith in him. But we must not forget the 25 points we scored with D’Aversa previously.”

Would a player like Krsotvic be suitable for a team of Fiorentina’s level? “Every director and every coach has a type of player in mind based on the characteristics he wants.”

The situation of Italian football after the collapse of the national team. “Not even 48 hours have passed since the defeat, I don’t like to cast blame or get involved in controversies that involve other people’s logic. I have to be honest though, I’m a bit annoyed to feel blamed and to hear that the blame for the national team can be attributed to Lecce who won a youth title with foreigners. Italian football won the World Cup with these rules for foreigners, as well as the European Championship three years ago, we must not make Lecce look like the plague spreader of Italian football”.

Do you like Zaniolo? Can he relaunch himself in the Italian championship? “Of course, he’s an important player who has had injuries that have prevented him from having the right consistency.”
