Coach Iordanescu: “Romania, we are writing history. But Holland are the favorites tomorrow”

Appointment with history: the Romaniatomorrow at 18:00, will face Ronaldo’s Holland Koeman in Munich, to try to reach the quarter-finals, as it has only managed to do once in its history. It was the year 2000 and in France the team of Mutu surrendered only to the fatal blows of the Italians Totti And Inzaghiwho would later be the finalists of that edition together with the hosts from France.

On the eve of the important event, coach Edward Jordanescus he spoke about his intentions to get the better of his opponents: “It would be a fabulous thing to reach the quarter-finals, something difficult to put into words. Against Holland we will have to be strong, disciplined, organized and determined: only in this way can we hope that some factor will play in our favor”.

There is no need to underline the weight of this match with your players: “When you play with history in front of your perspective, then you are ready to give your all. At this level no match is easy, even more so if a match is worth the quarter-finals of a European Championship”. There is no doubt about who will start ahead: “The favorite will be Holland, because they have incredible players, but we have our strengths”. Closing on Romania who, trained by their father Anghel, reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in USA ’94: “They were fantastic moments for our national team, but this is a different group. We know that tomorrow we will have to be close to perfection to get a good result. Don’t be fooled by how Holland played against Austria”.
