Cesena, Shpendi: “Perfect season. Winning in the first team has a whole other flavour”

In the ride that led Cesena to dominate Group B of Serie C, the absolute protagonist was Cristian Shpendi, who scored 20 goals in the league, 1 in the Italian Cup and 1 in the Super Cup, also providing 6 assists. The 2001-born player now seems to have been noticed by higher-category clubs (above all, Parma).

The striker spoke to the microphones of The Sports Gazette at the end of his splendid year: “It was a perfect season” – said the Albanian – “when the team started to get into gear, I also started to score consistently and we never stopped. Two years ago I won the championship and the Super Cup with the Primavera but doing it in the first team has another value. In my path, my dad was fundamental, my brother and I owe everything to him”.

Regarding his father, Shpendi said: “He finished his shift as a worker but always found the strength or time to let us play and followed us everywhere, giving up many things. The attack on Rinaldi after the match against Olbia? He he reacted badly, he wasn’t clear-headed and he was the first to apologise. That episode didn’t affect me in the slightest and it won’t make me change my opinion of him.”
