Below is the official statement: “West Ham United are delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi has extended his contract with the Club until the summer of 2027, with the option of a further year.

The 21-year-old, who enjoyed two valuable temporary spells away from east London last season, will now join Scottish top-flight side Motherwell for the 2024/25 campaign, with his loan officially commencing on July 1.

Signed in May 2019 from Szombathelyi Haladás, Hegyi, a Hungary Under-21 international, made 49 appearances in Premier League 2 and for various first-team sides in 2022/23 before going on loan to gain valuable experience last season.

At the start of 2023/24 he joined EFL League One side Stevenage, playing six times, before helping to keep six clean sheets in 17 appearances, helping to keep FC Den Bosch in the Dutch second division , the Eerste Divisie.

With his long-term future in the Claret and Blue secured, Hegyi will look to continue his development north of the border with Motherwell, who finished ninth in the Scottish Premiership last season.
