PSV, Sambo drops to English Serie B: his transfer to Burnley announced

Burnley active on the market, to seek an immediate rise to the Premier League. The first summer purchase is Shurandy Samboright back from PSV. Below is the official statement: “Burnley Football Club are delighted to confirm their first new signing of the 2024 summer transfer window, as right-back Shurandy Sambo arrives on a four-year contract. The Dutch Under-21 international joins the Clarets following the recent expiration of his contract with Eredivisie team PSV Eindhoven.

Born in Geldrop, Sambo played his junior career with SV Braakhuizen, before moving to PSV Eindhoven. The defender rose through the ranks at PSV and made his debut for the reserve team ‘Jong PSV’ in January 2020 against Ajax, before making his first-team debut a year later in the Eredivisie against FC Utrecht.

With first-team action limited to PSV, Sambo joined Sparta Rotterdam on a season-long loan for the 2022/23 campaign, where the right-back played all but four games in the Dutch top flight. After 14 first-team appearances following his return to PSV last season from loan, the Dutchman, who represented the Netherlands from U15 to U21, becomes the first signing of the summer.
