“Bologna FC 1909 announces that it has definitively acquired the right to the sporting services of defender Emil Holm from Spezia Calcio“. This is the official press release with which the rossoblΓΉ club formalizes the first move of the summer market. Here is the full note
The eleventh Swedish footballer in the club’s history, Emil Holm is a defender born in 2000, known for his excellent physical and athletic skills. Born in football in the ranks of Annebergs IF, a few kilometers from the city of Gothenburg, in the summer of 2012 he joined the youth team of IFK Gothenburg.
In 2018 he made his debut in the first team, quickly becoming an important element of the squad. In January 2021 he was sold to the Danish club SΓΈnderjyske and subsequently, in August 2021, he was purchased by Spezia Calcio who left him on loan to the Danish team for another year.
He returned to Liguria the following season, collecting 20 appearances and one goal. The 2023-2024 championship sees him on loan to Atalanta with whom he will make 22 appearances, one goal and one assist, finally managing to win the Europa League with the Bergamo team.
In the national team he represented Sweden at youth level with the Under-19 (7 appearances) and Under-21 (6 appearances and 2 goals) national teams, performances which in November 2022 earned him his first call-up to the senior national team, with which he currently has 8 appearances and one goal under his belt.
Skilled in tackling and positioning, Holm has good timing in interventions and aerial duels. His defensive ability is strengthened by an excellent understanding of the game. In attack he excels at crosses from the right flank and dribbling, he has confident ball control and precise passes.
Holm represents the prototype of the modern full-back: a defender capable of contributing significantly in both phases of the game. His combination of technical, physical and tactical skills makes him a complete and versatile player. From June 2024 he will be a permanent rossoblΓΉ player.”
