Freuler: “Against Italy it will have to be our best performance in recent years”

“We have deservedly reached the round of 16 and now comes the best part.” So she spoke Remus Freuler to UEFA’s microphones ahead of tomorrow’s match against Italy. “We need an even better performance than in the three group games. Saturday will have to be our best performance in recent years,” said the Bologna midfielder.

“The mentality will be important. We have to play good football, we have to go forward and put them under pressure. We obviously know our opponents but nowadays we work in such a way that we can still take a closer look at all the players. Maybe It’s an advantage, maybe a disadvantage. We also knew many of the German players, we know each other a little on the pitch, whether this is an advantage remains to be seen.”

“As for the round of 16, we know how to win, but we also know how to lose,” said Freuler, who is playing his fourth major tournament with the Swiss national team. “That’s why these games are always special. We are preparing as best we can this week and are training well to be able to perform even better than in previous games.”
