Donnarumma: “With Zaccagni’s goal we clicked. Now it’s a different Italy”

At the microphones of Sky Sports, Gianluigi Donnarumma spoke ahead of tomorrow’s Euro2024 round of 16 match against Switzerland. These are the words of the Italy captain, starting from the location of the match, the Olympiastadion in Berlin where the Azzurri became world champions in 2006: “Buffon spoke to us about it, the emotion is great and you can see it from the eyes. Tomorrow the challenge is very important, we will need to be ready, positive, with the right head.”

Did Italy click with Zaccagni’s goal?
“Definitely. We are ready for tomorrow. We have to file down some things that we could have done better, but we will be ready to give our best and that is the important thing.”

Compared to the beginning of the rally, is Italy different?
“There is more awareness. We had a difficult group in which everyone thought we were done for, but we gave it our all and we overcame the group. This gives awareness, now we have to keep our heads. We know that there are 60 million Italians behind us, this gives us energy and will be important for tomorrow”.
