In his interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Marco Tardelli analyzed Luciano Spalletti’s Italy ahead of the Euro2024 round of 16 match against Switzerland scheduled for Saturday:
“Let’s start with the game system: the one used against Croatia almost worked, even if there were some risks. Overall Spalletti found a balance with two wingers like this, but it’s a more defensive balance than offensive.”
Better with Chiesa?
“A little better: a few more tears, not many. Maybe, seeing how he’s doing, we also need to review something in terms of his condition, but that usually changes during the tournament. But first I see other urgencies, at least two. We need more determination. I didn’t see any in the first three games. The second one seemed to me to be a bit lacking in ideas and quality.”
Would you risk Fagioli in place of Jorginho?
“Instinctively I say yes: if he was called up, giving up Locatelli, there is a purpose behind it. I’m curious, it could be the right spark, because a spark is needed.”
