Sorrento, progress on the stadium issue

The goal shared by Sorrento Football and from the Municipality of Sorrento is to return home in the 2025/2026 season. Consequently, in a first phase we will proceed with the adaptation of the Italia stadium to the standards necessary to host the Serie C matches and only subsequently will we provide for a more extensive restyling of the structure – so as to have a facility in the near future that is up to the standards Sorrento “brand”, famous throughout the world.

The Lega Pro has made it clear that it no longer intends to “host” – it is appropriate to say this – new Monterosi cases, that is, teams that do not play at home for more than two years, and consequently the Mayor’s council Coppola has taken up the 2012 project again (already approved by the Superintendence but without “enforceability”) with the request for access to Sports Credit funds.

In practice there will be the demolition of the central grandstand, with the creation of a “Distinti” sector on via Califano and obviously the laying of the new turf with attached measures suitable for professional championships. The Sports Credit should give the approval to the financing by the end of September but in the meantime it will be possible to proceed with the delivery and approval of the executive project which will be included in the three-year work plan by the Municipality. At that point, we will proceed with the tender and then work will begin. For the 2025/2026 season we should return home and then, at a later stage, build the new central (covered) grandstand with adjoining parking.
