Roberto De Zerbi, being free only costs a few regrets

Roberto De Zerbi he did it again, to stay on the musical theme because the title also contains a quote but it’s from Vasco Rossithe favorite singer of the coach from Brescia (and in this regard here you can read a particular interview done with Vasco’s songs from a few years ago) who chose theOlympique Marseille after saying goodbye to Brighton. We thought that the next step could be that of a top European club, without taking anything away from OM, a historic club in European football which however comes from a bad year in which it did not even gain access to the Cups, those Cups which instead made to taste as a gift dinner at Villa Crespi by Antonino Cannavacciuolo to the Brighton fans who were on a European stage for the first time. Of course Hells Kitchen!

A surprising choice, perhaps…
We thought – it was said – that after Brighton there would be a top team but De Zerbi surprised once again with his choices by accepting the Marseille challenge and also bringing with him the former sporting director of Sassuolo Giovanni Rossi (today the two landed in France). Surprised, however, up to a certain point because RDZ made a non-obvious and non-trivial choice that perhaps others would not have made at this time but the former Sassuolo player is not new to this type of situation and in this perhaps he follows one of the masters of him, El Loco Bielsa, among other things much loved in the Velodrome area. Even after his farewell to Sassuolo, despite having different offers in hand, he opted for an unusual choice with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, an adventure that unfortunately lasted too little due to the outbreak of the war, but that experience served to give him a breather international to his figure and it is no coincidence that shortly afterwards the call from Brighton arrived, in the most important championship in the world: the Premier League.

The clash of the century: resultists vs gamers
Now the haters will be able to shift their attention to Ligue 1, towards Marseille. Because De Zerbi has always divided. There is no coach who, more than any other, unleashes hordes of barbaric comments after each defeat of his teams with his faithful followers – because the DeZerbismo it’s a religion – ready to respond after every victory. It has been happening regularly for 6-7 years now. Every goal with a maneuvered action, perhaps even with 20-25 touches, becomes the symbol of the game players, every mistake in the construction phase from the bottom becomes the manifesto of the opposite faction, the results fans. As if De Zerbi didn’t seek victory and only coached in search of beauty, even if he wasn’t a painter or a sculptor!

A courageous choice but without regrets
Now France. Another foreign championship that will certainly enrich the coach and the man, because “the journey is never a question of money, but of courage” as Paolo Coelho said. And De Zerbi certainly doesn’t lack courage. And he proved it once again with an important but also courageous choice because the sirens of Manchester United And Bayern Monaco did not resonate by chance and could certainly have offered him much more in terms of engagement and image, because perhaps at the Milan it could have been convenient, because perhaps others would have chosen the ‘easiest’ solution which could lead to having as much certainty and as few regrets as possible. Well, perhaps sometimes being free only costs a few regrets, but this is not the case with Roberto De Zerbi.
