Spain, de la Fuente: “The best team on the pitch, I’m not worried about injuries”

Luis de la FuenteSpain coach, spoke at a press conference on the eve of the match against Albania: “Tomorrow there is a lot at stake: there is prestige and we want to continue to improve. We will face this match like all the others, as if it were the ‘last. Of course we thought about the players we think are suitable for this match. We only focus on winning because we want to win every match.

We will obviously try to avoid injuries. We will only focus on putting the best team on the field; sure, someone will rest, but this is a tournament with seven games. We can’t worry about injuries or suspensions.”

On Fermín López: “He has already made his international debut, but the European Championship is different. He is ready and excited; he is a great player, which is why he is here with us. Of course he could play, like everyone else. We will see based on the our game plan who will start, also because there are others who I would like to test. Everyone can improve the team’s performance. Fermín is important and has earned his place in our team.”

The opponent: “Albania has fantastic fans and it’s a surprise. We know that tomorrow will be very tough and we will make the changes we deem appropriate. We have full confidence in our 26 players. Everyone has the chance to play at a high level, so I am very calm. Dead balls? We know how strong Albania is but any team can hurt you with set pieces. We have also shown that we are strong, both in attack and in defense at set pieces this could be what will decide. We want to control this aspect and we don’t want to get caught.”
