Torino starts again from Vanoli, Sacchi: “He’s not presumptuous, he wants to learn”

Interviewed by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi commented on Torino’s hiring of Paolo Vanoli as the new coach: “Let’s start first of all with the human qualities. Vanoli is someone who listens, he’s not presumptuous, he wants to learn, he puts in a lot of effort on the pitch, he has a good dialogue with the players. And then, this should never be forgotten, he was a good footballer and therefore the life of the locker room is nothing new for him.

Did I follow it after the blue route? Yes, and I am very happy with the path he has taken – commented the former Azzurri coach -. He worked well with the Italian youth teams, he was a collaborator of Gian Piero Ventura when he was technical commissioner, he was on Antonio Conte’s staff first at Chelsea and then at Inter. In short, it seems to me that he has had his experiences and that he has acquired the knowledge necessary for the leap in quality.

Promotion to Serie A with Venezia? Vanoli was very good – concluded Sacchi. Because in the middle of the season the company had not invested in the winter market and, indeed, had sold some important elements. But he brought the environment together, gave him the certainty that allowed him to get promoted.”
