Stojkovic’s team, after a balanced first half, fell under Karnicnik’s blow, but found the strength to avoid a defeat with the flavor of elimination and at the same time extinguished the dreams of a Slovenia who saw the round of 16 within reach.
The two goalscorers are the best on the pitch, together with the Slovenian goalkeeper Oblak, while the Serbian stars Vlahovic and Mitrovic save. The AC Milan centre-forward was unsatisfied: “It was fantastic to score at the last minute. But I would have made a substitution for the victory”, while the Slovenia full-back was bitter: “We were so close to victory. The support from the fans was incredible”.
Both coaches praise their respective teams with Stojkovic enjoying the unexpected draw (“Created more, but the only thing that matters is scoring. Jovic? Extraordinary player”), while Kek speaks of “cruel football”.
