Walter Sabatini: “I complimented Lotito on Tchaouna and Dia, very strong”

The last undertaking was unsuccessful, the salvation of Salernitana proved to be too difficult a task even for a man of great experience like Walter Sabatini.

The Granata club has just turned the page by choosing Gianluca Petrachi, and Sabatini gives himself exclusively to Minute71 aired on Ellerradiodealing with various topics concerning Lazio, a club that has always remained close to his heart, and the Italian team’s adventure in Germany.

The first thought is for two players who are insistently associated with the blue and white shirt and who he knows very well.

Tchaouna he is a very strong, very strong player. He has great speed and technique, he sees the goal and knows how to kick with both feet. It could be a big blow for Lazio. He is a very young boy, born in 2003, therefore he needs to be accompanied a little.”

Dia he is a modern footballer, very strong at attacking depth. He too could be a great signing for Lazio. He is confident with scoring and, despite playing with a low-ranking team last season, he scored many goals and also provided assists. He had asked to be sold on the last day of the transfer market because there was a Premier League team that wanted him on loan. Salernitana, rightly, did not accept the modalities, especially the question of the loan. From then on, a whole series of tensions emerged that the player paid for. But he is a boy who has absolutely no behavioral problems. Unfortunately he suffered the situation. If Lazio takes him he won’t regret it.”

Sabatini then talks about Basicloaned last January by Lazio: “Basic hasn’t done badly this year, on the contrary, when he played without physical problems he was always up to par. Let’s also consider one aspect: it’s very difficult to play with a team in difficulty that loses a lot matches. Basic was always on the pitch with dignity.”

On Castellanosa striker who has only scored six goals this season: “He has a characteristic that I really like, he is a fighter: a fundamental quality for a footballer. The Spaniard is very competitive and therefore I would treat him with due respect.”

While waiting for the decisive match against Spain, Sabatini is more than optimistic for our colours: “Italy must and will be able to get to the end. This Italy is a very good team: it has all the qualities required to be able to compete. It is coached by a football genius called Luciano Spalletti. So I think he will get to the final. Now everyone will touch each other… (laughs ed.), but I am convinced: the Azzurri can go all the way.”

As an excellent talent scout, Sabatini is certainly not a passive spectator these days: “I’m watching all the European matches, and I’ve already noticed some very interesting players. Have you recommended them to President Lotito? No, I sent Lotito a message to compliment the negotiations relating to Tchaouna and Dia”.
