José Maria Callejón leaves Granada. The Spanish winger had a contract until 30 June 2025 but decided to terminate the agreement early; 37 years old, the former Napoli, Fiorentina and Real Madrid player must now decide what to do in the future, with the possibility of retirement not to be ruled out.
Callejón wanted to end his career in the land where he was born, with an important sporting goal: to bring the team back to the First Division. An objective achieved and which allowed him to activate a clause in his contract to extend for another two seasons, but the disappointment of relegation caused the plans to change.
Callejón, in his first year at Granada, had played 44 matches between the second division and the Copa del Rey with 38 appearances as a starter, scoring four goals; in the last year, however, his importance has decreased considerably: he has participated in 26 matches, only eight at the start, with only one goal on the scoresheet.
