After announcing the arrival of Giuseppe Magalini as sporting director, Bari also announced the name of the new coach. It’s about Moreno Longo who has signed a contract until 2026 with an extension in the event of promotion to Serie A. This is the statement from the Apulians:
SSC Bari welcomes Moreno Longo as the new Technical Manager of the red and white First Team; for the Piedmontese technician agreement until June 2026 with automatic extension for a further sporting season in case of promotion.
Born in Turin in February ’76 to a family of Apulian origins, he spent his career as a footballer wearing the shirts of Turin, Lucchese, Chievo Verona, Cagliari, Teramo, Pro Vercelli and Alessandria. After leaving football in 2006, he began to gain experience as a coach on the benches of Piedmontese youth teams before arriving at Torino, first with the Allievi Nazionali, then, from ’12 to ’16, with the Granata Primavera which led to four Final Eight, winning a category Scudetto in the ’14-’15 season and a Super Cup in ’15-’16.
Pro Vercelli decides to entrust him with the technical guidance of the First Team for the 2016-’17 season and the Piedmontese achieve a comfortable salvation in Serie B. It is then Frosinone who bets on him and the choice turns out to be an enlightened one with the Ciociari team winning the promotion to Serie A by beating Palermo in the ’17-’18 playoff final. After leading Torino to safety in the top flight in ’19-’20, he was called to the Alessandria bench in January ’21: with the ‘greys’ he won promotion to Serie B by beating Padova in the playoff final. In ’22-’23 he took over the management of Como which led them from the penultimate place in the standings to the threshold of the playoff zone.
Together with the Piedmontese coach, Dario Migliaccio (second assistant coach), Paolo Nava (athletic coach) and Luca Ceccarelli (technical coach) arrive in the red and white.
